Aisha Asconiga
Aisha Asconiga was born in Lima – Peru (1989). She studied plastic arts in ¨Corriente Alterna¨, College of Visual Arts of Lima¨, took courses in ¨The Art Students League Of New York¨ and has made a complementary Bachelor in art in the National University of San Marcos. Her body of work reveals the way in which information, consumerism and propaganda manipulate society, especially their reality replacement operation, an addictive quality and emptiness from which we all receive images that have no value and also receive symbolic violence that threatens with its life. At the same time, her work can see diverse psychological, emotional and conduct disorders and personal dissatisfaction generated by this violence.
Aisha delves into understanding reason and events in time, the way in which we relate to their changes and how they become an enemy which, at the same time, unveils the processes and suffering hidden behind perfection. “I delve into the different – almost literal- layers hidden under the notion of happiness that a hyper consumption society sells and imposes through beauty and wellbeing ideals”.
